And Walmart makes three

As the EFF reports, Walmart are shutting off their DRM servers. This means if you bought music from them, you can't move it around any more, and if you need a new computer, you're out of luck. As usual, XKCD nails it. I've ranted about this before, but not nearly so concisely.

The good news is that they're turning them off because they've had enough and they're selling DRM-free music. Why? Why does Walmart do anything? There's money in it!

Since I never bought DRM laden malware, I don't suffer the consequences, but I do get the benefit of being able to now buy un-broken music.

I love the smell of burning DRM servers in the morning. Smells like... victory.
